Pobalscoil Inbhear Scéine is actively engaged in coaching Football, Hurling, Basketball and Athletics and participates in most of the inter-school competitions, throughout the year.
This year, we have a new addition, Futsal which is a modified form of soccer played with five players per side on a smaller indoor, pitch.
We have enjoyed great success over the years and believe that student participation in sport is an important part of their education.
We provide this with assistance from some staff and a range of outside coaches drawn from our community, including parents to whom we are very grateful.
Check the Latest News section for updates on our progress in the competitions.
Pobalscoil Inbhear Scéine encourages a wide range of Arts activities in the school.
The School Musical is the highlight of the school year, when we put on three performances of a full musical, in January. This is a huge undertaking, involving the whole school and the wider community of Kenmare and is eagerly anticipated by all. (Click here for link to photos of our Musicals from previous years.)
We hold a Variety Show on the day of the Christmas holidays each year, where students and staff enjoy some great fun. The Music Department puts on performances by the students studying Music each Spring and invites performers from the community and beyond, to come into the school for private and public performances, from time to time.
In Spring, the school hosts an Arts Week, when the Arts, in the broadest sense, are celebrated: visual art from the Art Department, photography exhibitions, music performances by students and professionals from outside, composing and writing competitions and much more, all culminating in a the traditional Céilí Mor in the gym.
Debating and Public Speaking
We encourage student to practice public speaking through class debating competitions and participation in several national competitions, Concern, UCC Philosophical Society etc. and have enjoyed good success over the years.
